Word Press Must Haves
Here are 3 of the 5 recommended word press plug-ins suggested by thewordpresswizard.com
If your theme does not have this built in, this is a plugin you will use a lot. It allows you to decide which pages appear in the navigation bar. It provides a simple checkbox on the editing page – you leave it checked to include pages and uncheck it to exclude pages. Great easy to use plugin but ONLY if your theme doesn’t have that capability built in.
Mark Jaquith, one of the lead developers at WordPress, wrote this plugin to allow you to link to pages off your blog without the need for an html redirect. As he says, it’s ” Good for setting up navigational links to non-WP sections of your site or to off-site resources.” This is a staple in all of my blogs!
Pretty LInk lets you set up and track your own links. It’s great for disguising those long, ugly affiliate links or ANY link you want to track. It works outside of WordPress too. You can use your ‘Pretty Link’ anywhere. Great plugin!

Idea: Let us force a line break
WordPress Source – Soni
An easy hack for inserting a line break is to break up your tags. For example, to get some extra space between a bolded title caption above a pic and the block of main text above it, I’ll bold the caption text, then add a return between the first bold tag and the text, like so:
<b>
text</b>
[image]
That forces a break after the opening tag (which doesn’t show up), thereby giving me a break.
I’ve found this works well, even if you have nothing you want to format. Just insert a random set of html tags (I usually use the italics) wherever you want a line break, then split them up, like so:
<i>
</i>
They won’t show up in your post, but they will create a line break. You can also do the same thing between images by splitting the image code between the link html and the img src html.

E-Junkie – the “FAT FREE” shopping cart
Posted by cherished in Scripts, Shopping Cart, Software/Tools on August 8th, 2008
If you are shopping around for a new shopping cart, I encourage you to take a serious look at E-Junkie.
I love the fact that you can use it with your existing website and it implements creative solutions to keep buyers focused thereby decreasing shopping cart abandonment.
I also like that you can sell actual product AND digital downloads in the same cart and it takes care of everything in the back end with the utmost professionalism. I have personally tested over 20 shopping carts, and I really like this one the best – especially since their services start at only $5/month and they have a free trial.
Link Popularity
Posted by cherished in Marketing, Web Design on July 31st, 2008
It is not how good your site is, it is how good the sites are that link to you. This still holds weight with search engine favoritism. It’s about who links to you. Blogrolls, pingbacks, and trackbacks help you link to other people, which gives them credit, but it also helps them link to you, connecting the “links.”
The number of incoming links your site has that have been recognized by Google can be checked by typing link:www.yoursite.com into Google (other search engines have similar functions).
Other ways to generate incomming links to your site include:
-
- Add your site’s url to your signature on forum posts on other sites.
- Submit your site to directories.
- Note: Leaving comments on blogs will not help with this, since all modern blogging tools use the rel=”nofollow” attribute. Don’t be a comment spammer.
